There were scenes of great celebration and pride, mixed with a little sadness in one County Waterford school recently when one of the facility's most popular teachers retired.

St Declan's Community College in Kilmacthomas is renowned for the quality of its teaching and that is indicative of the professionalism and dedication of the staff members, none more so than the highly regarded and very popular staff member, Anne Murray.

Anne was a French and History teacher in St Declan's for many years.

As part of her retirement celebration she was presented with a bouquet of flowers by Mr Morgan McKnight and Ms Michelle Farrell, on behalf of her colleagues.

After a long career as a French and History teacher Anne took up the position of resource teacher in 2009.

A spokesperson for the school said: "Her co-workers and students wish her all the best in her retirement."
