Waterford people encouraged to enter spring clean photo competition
Waterford City and County Council is encouraging communities and schools to get involved in a new photo competition, 'Snap into Action'.
As spring clean-ups get underway across the county this month, Waterford City and County Council is encouraging communities and schools to get involved in a new photo competition, Snap into Action.
A spokesperson for the local authority said the initiative invites participants to document their local clean-up efforts by capturing 'before' and 'after' images that show the real impact of tackling litter in their area.
Whether it’s a school project, a residents’ association effort, or a local community group coming together, the focus is on action, participation, and visible change.
Groups are asked to submit their photos along with a short A4 summary outlining what was done, who took part, and why their clean-up deserves to win.
The Council spokesperson said the competition is open across three categories: Primary Schools; Secondary Schools and Community Groups.
"A cash prize of €500 will be awarded, recognising the effort and initiative shown by participants in improving their local environment," she said.
Entries must be submitted by May 15, via email to climateaction@waterfordcouncil.ie.
"With brighter evenings and better weather, April offers the perfect opportunity to get outdoors, take pride in local areas, and make a visible difference," she said.
"The Snap into Action competition adds a simple challenge to that effort: show the change you’ve made," she added.
