Waterford Music announces first spring concert

The Lumière String Quartet are the featured performers for Waterford Music's first spring concert, on Friday, February 6.

Waterford Music Announces has announced details of its first Spring Classical Concert of the year.

The event will take place on Friday, February 6, and will be held in the Dr Mary Strangman Large Room in City Hall.

The concert will feature a performance by The Lumière String Quartet.

The performance will get under way at 7.30pm and it promises to be a fantastic night of entertainment and a great way to kick-start the new season.

The Lumière Quartet will play classic quartets by Haydn, Beethoven and 18th century Venetian composer, Maddalena Lombardini.

A spokesperson for Waterford Music said: "The programme on the night will also feature a piece called 'Pushpulling', by contemporary Irish composer Donnacha Dennehy."

The Quartet is composed of Ioana Petcu Colan and Elaine Clark on violin, Nathan Sherman on viola and Carina Drury on cello.

All four are accomplished musicians in their own right, and they play on gut strings, which produce a rich, resonant sound.

Waterford Music presents is presenting the concert in association with the National String Quartet Foundation, which organises tours throughout Ireland for string quartets.

The Lumière Quartet's tour will also take in Listowel, Limerick, Cork and Dublin.

Waterford Music's concerts are all available to book in advance on its website, waterford-music.org.

Tickets are priced at €20 for full price tickets, €15 for seniors/unwaged and €5 for students.

Season tickets are available to purchase at €75 for five concerts.
