Sinn Féin MEP for Ireland South Kathleen Funchion has called on the next Government to deliver on the upgrade project for the Port of Waterford.
“It is now inevitable that Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael, propped up by Independents, will form the next Government," MEP Funchion said from Brussels.
"Whilst I do not believe this is good news for workers or families, I would still urge the incoming government to deliver the policy changes needed to help those who are struggling and to help our regions develop," she added.
She also urged the next Government to prioritise the upgrade of Waterford Port: “One such project I believe the next Government must prioritise is the upgrade for Waterford Port."
The MEP for Ireland South said that she met with the management of the Port of Waterford and said it was "clear to see their ambition for the region".
"The Port can play a role in helping us meet our climate objectives, and boost economic activity in the region," she said.
“I would therefore urge the next government to finally deliver on the Port of Waterford upgrade so that the entire region can benefit.”
