Gardaí investigating serious assault in County Waterford

The incident occurred on Friday night

The Gardaí have issued an appeal for witnesses to what a spokesperson described as "a serious assault" that occurred in County Waterford.

The incident occurred at Cook Street and Mill Street junction in Cappoquin on Friday, October 17.

The spokesperson said: "Gardaí in Dungarvan are appealing for witnesses in relation to a serious assault at the junction of Cook Street and Mill Street, Cappoquin, Co. Waterford, yesterday night, Friday, October 17, at approximately 11.50pm."

A male, aged in his 40’s was conveyed to University Hospital Waterford for treatment of serious injuries. 

The man remains in critical condition.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information in relation to this incident or who may have video footage (including dash-cam) to contact Dungarvan Garda Station on 058 48600, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
