Funeral details released as highly respected Waterford businesswoman Kathleen Fitzgerald passes away

Funeral details have been released following the death of highly respected Waterford businesswoman Kathleen Fitzgerald (née Butler) of Dunmore East, Co. Waterford.
Kathleen was a director of George's Court Shopping Centre in Waterford city centre, along with a number of other business interests.
She served as a Director of Waterford Chamber from 2000 to 2014 and served with distinction as President of Waterford Chamber from 2006 to 2007. In 2011, she made history as the first female president of Waterford Rotary Club.
Formerly of Gracedieu, Waterford, and late of George’s Court, Motherneeds, No. 9 and Carters businesses, Kathleen passed away on Friday, January 9.
Paying tribute on Friday, CEO of Waterford Chamber Gerald Hurley, said that Kathleen “made an outstanding contribution to the business community in Waterford”.

“Kathleen will be fondly remembered for her professionalism, generosity, and lasting impact on Waterford’s business and civic life. Our thoughts are with Kathleen’s family at this difficult time. May she rest in peace," Mr. Hurley said.
Kathleen will repose at Thompson's Funeral Home, Barrack Street, Waterford city, on Sunday, January 11, from 7:00pm to 8:30pm with vigil prayers and Rosary at 8:00pm.
Requiem Mass will take place on arrival in the Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity, Barronstrand Street, Waterford city, on this Monday, January 12, at 10:30am, followed by burial in Killea Church Cemetery, Dunmore East.
The Funeral Mass will also be livestreamed at 10:30am on Monday.
The family has requested family flowers only please, donations if desired can be made to The Oak Ward, South East Palliative Care.
They extended heartfelt thanks for the exceptional care Kathleen received from all the staff of the Stroke Unit and Palliative Care Oak Ward at University Hospital Waterford during her short illness.
Predeceased by her husband Liam, parents Tom and Nellie and brother Thomas, Kathleen is sadly missed by her loving son Bill, daughter Lisa, grandchildren Luca, Poppy, Tilda and Finn, son-in-law Philip, daughter-in-law Irene, brothers John, Teddy and Don, sisters Mary and Helen, brother-in-law Bob, sisters-in-law Lucy, Mary and Finola, nephews, nieces, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends.
