Funding worry for N24 road

The scheme could in trouble.
The future of the N24 Waterford-Cahir Scheme is in jeopardy.
According to Kilkenny County Council, the scheme will not receive any additional funding in 2025.
At the monthly Piltown Municipal District meeting, councillors heard about the latest updates for public projects.
John Tennyson of Kilkenny County Council informed the meeting that Phase 2 of the N24 Waterford to Cahir Transportation Scheme is coming to a close: “The close out of Phase 2 is imminent for this project.”
“As highlighted before to the elected members, the scheme will not receive additional funding to move on to Phase 3 in 2025,” he added.
Councillor Fidelis Doherty (Fine Gael) said in reponse to Mr Tennyson’s comments that the matter was concerning: “Its worrying to see that the N24 Waterford-Cahir Scheme will not receive funding in 2025 to bring it forward to Phase 3.”
Noting the recent General Election, Cllr Doherty continued: “Ok, we have a new Government being formed. It will be the New Year before we have a new Minister.”
“We need to get ready to start that campaign again to adjust that lack of spending for this area, for the Glenmore Waterford scheme and indeed the Waterford to Cahir scheme,” she said.
