Four plead guilty to assaulting woman
The four accused appeared at Waterford Courthouse.
Two men and two women have pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman in Waterford City.
Nadia Halligan (33), Niall Keegan (29), Louise Quigley (35) and Luke Fennessy (30) were arraigned at Waterford Circuit Court this week before a jury could be empanelled.
Halligan and Keegan, both of 18 Thomas Street, pleaded guilty to committing assault contrary to Section 3 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act, against a woman on Bridge Street, attempted robbery and burglary of an apartment at Moyne House, Grattan Quay, on June 13, 2025.
Quigley, of Greenbank Apartment, Mary Street, pleaded guilty to assault, attempted robbery and the burglary at Moyne House.
Fennessy, of 118 Clonard Park, pleaded guilty to the assault on the woman, attempted robbery and burglary at the aforementioned apartment.
The quartet appeared before Judge Eugene O'Kelly and gave their pleas before a jury panel.
Legal counsel for Halligan, Sarah-Jane Comerford, BL, requested a Governor's report for her client pending sentencing.
Defence barrister Gareth Hayden, BL, requested a probation report for Keegan.
Legal counsel for Quigley requested both a Governor's report and a probation report, while counsel for Fennessy requested a Governor's report.
The accused are being held on remand and will re-appear for mention on April 15.
