Fined over Waterford roundabout collision

“Roundabouts are tricky; it can be easy enough to find yourself in the wrong lane,” Judge Kevin Staunton said.

A collision involving two cars at a Waterford roundabout was the subject of a case at Waterford District Court.

Dominic O’Driscoll (71), of Grange Beg, Fethard, Co. Tipperary, was convicted and fined €300 for driving without reasonable consideration contrary to Section 51A of the Road Traffic Act at the Outer Ring Road, Butlerstown North, Waterford, on November 26, 2025.

Solicitor Ken Cunningham said his client should have been in the right hand lane taking the third exit. The collision involved two cars, one on the inside lane and one on the outside lane of the roundabout. Mr O’Driscoll had been on his way to Whitfield Hospital at the time.

“Roundabouts are tricky,” Judge Kevin Staunton said. “It can be easy enough to find yourself in the wrong lane.”
