Female apprentice mechanic drives diversity with Waterford business

Tom Murphy Car Sales in Waterford is proud to champion diversity & inclusivity within the Auto Motor Industry with their first female motor mechanic apprentice.

Alethea Cleary, Tramore Youthreach, successfully applied for and secured a motor mechanic apprenticeship with the Cork Road business through the Waterford and Wexford Education and Training Board’s craft apprenticeship female scholarship.

Ms Cleary, while speaking about the opportunity, said it's an interest she had “from a young age."

"This passion drove me to pursue a career in the motor industry. An apprenticeship with Tom Murphy Car Sales and WWETB is the perfect way for me to gain hands-on experience while learning from the best in the industry,” she said.

Female Scholarship

Waterford and Wexford Education and Training Board offers female learners from any Waterford or Wexford post primary school or FET centre in the current calendar year an opportunity to apply for its Female Scholarship. Further information on the scholarship is available at apprenticeshipscholarship@wwetb.ie.
