Failure to pay Waterford court poor box after €8,800 money laundering offence

A 20-year-old man failed to pay €500 to the Court Poor Box after pleading guilty to money laundering.
Samuel Olohan, of 6 Shandon Court, Upper Yellow Road, Waterford, was charged with committing money laundering to the value of €8,800 on November 5, 2024.
In May 2026 at Waterford District Court, Judge John Cheatle ordered Olohan to pay the €500 fine on the back of a 'very positive' probation report.
Last week, Judge Kevin Staunton ordered Olohan to pay a sum of €3,000 to Depaul within the next six months, after being informed that the defendant had failed to contribute to the poor box.
