Déise's 'Library of Things'?

The Library of Things scheme could work in a similar way to the BoxUp lockers in People's Park, suggested Cllr Kiely.

Waterford could benefit from having a 'Library of Things', according to a local councillor.

Tramore Councillor Cristíona Kiely proposed the idea of introducing a space where people can openly share and swap items in a way to cut down costs.

Cllr Kiely proposed that the scheme could work in a similar way with the BoxUp Lockers in the People’s Park, which were installed by Waterford Sports Partnership.

She said: “It affords people an opportunity to borrow items they only need on an occasional basis, such as tools, camping equipment, roof boxes, gardening equipment, musical instruments, garden furniture, party items, children’s bicycles, cycling equipment and other items they might otherwise have to buy for once off or occasional use.”

"This scheme would operate on a similar basis to a book library and would reduce costs, reduce waste and free up space in homes while allowing people avail of the items without the need to purchase."
