Cyclists unite to support mental health awareness

"It’s so important that we keep promoting positive mental health and try reduce the stigma, and if we do that we can reduce the deaths by suicide" - Cllr Liam Brazil
275 cyclists took part in the 10th Mental Health & Suicide Awareness Charity Cycle recently, raising over €8,000.
Cllr Liam Brazil, one of the founders of the cycle, spoke about the event this week on the anniversary of the loss of his own brother to suicide.
“Throughout Ireland so many people take their life by suicide, about 500 people every year.
Today is my brother's anniversary. 38 years ago today he took his life by suicide. That’s what it means to me.
“I’d like to thank the people who came out and supported the cycle. It’s not only about raising money, it’s about raising awareness and trying to let people know that there is help out there."
