Waterford City and County Counsil are holding an open night for their affordable homes scheme in the county on Wednesday, September 2.

The open house will be held at Leargán Estate, in Kilamacthomas, where the council's housing team has 10 four-bedroom houses in the estate, on their affordable homes purchase scheme.

Under this scheme, Waterford City and County Council offer new homes at a reduced price to eligible first-time buyers by taking an equity share which buyers can share over time or on sale of the property.

The information evening will provide an opportunity for first-time buyers to find out how the affordable homes scheme works.

They also get to discuss their legibility with Waterford City and County's housing team and arrange a viewing of one of the homes with the developer.

The 10 semi-detached, A2-rated homes in the estate have a minimum purchase price of €360,000, with a maximum equity of €75,000 available from Waterford City and County Council to bridge the gap to a market value of €435,000.

The council also have homes in Mill Heights, Crooke, Co. Waterford under this scheme.

No appointment is required for the evening, and any additional information can be found at www.waterfordcouncil.ie/affordable
