Consultation open for major county Waterford courthouse development

The council are proposing to turn the Portlaw courthouse building into a community centre and market square

Waterford City and County Council is advising the public that they can now make a submission in respect of the development for the Portlaw Courthouse Quarter.

The council are proposing to turn the Portlaw courthouse building into a community centre and market square, with upgrades and pedestrianisation.

Changes would be made to the local road layout to improve pedestrian access, parking and traffic flow.

These include narrowing the Factory Road to create a footpath, additional parking and electric vehicle charging stations and traffic-calming measures at Malcomson Square with removal of the roundabout in favour of a junction.

Plans and particulars are available to view/download on the Waterford City and County Council public consultations portal.

The closing date for all submissions is 4pm, April 16.
