Dunmore East Library has announced a very special event set to take place next month.

A spokesperson for the library expressed delight in hosting an event with author Jen Bray, in The Fisherman’s Hall in Dunmore East, Co. Waterford at 7pm on Tuesday, June 9th.

Jen’s debut novel, 'The Lies Between Us', features three sisters, a murder investigation and long-buried secrets as the sisters gather at their mother’s idyllic coastal cottage in Dunmore East.

On the night, Waterford readers will get the chance to join the author, who will be in conversation with Dr Jenny O'Connor, from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at SETU.

Dr. O’Connor said: “Jen Bray’s debut novel, set in the seaside village of Dunmore East, opens with the disappearance and a murder, which cause old wounds to be reopened and family secrets to be unveiled."

"This novel has not only featured in the bestseller lists in Ireland but has also been sold to publishers in Germany, Poland and the United States," she said.

"SETU is delighted to partner with Waterford Libraries to bring literature events into the community," she added.

Jen Bray spoke of her excitement at the upcoming event in the beautiful coastal village, saying: “I am beyond excited to come back to Dunmore East, the place that inspired 'The Lies Between Us'."

"Not only did I get the idea for the novel in this beautiful seaside village, but I wrote a large part of it there and then returned to carry out the edits too," she said.

"This book belongs to Dunmore East and I am so looking forward to this event in the place where it all started."

Event organiser, Senior Executive Librarian, Sinead O’Higgins added: “Jen’s debut novel has been causing quite a stir in our libraries and is becoming a favourite with our book clubs and readers. We can’t wait to meet Jen and hear more about the warring Brown sisters and their secrets."

“It will be very special to gather in The Fisherman’s Hall and see the novels setting right outside," she said.

The event will be free of charge to access and booking is advised by calling 051 849755 or via Eventbrite at https://www.eventbrite.ie/e/the-lies-between-us-by-jen-bray-tickets-1988756717879
