Bus driver in Waterford e-scooter accident sent forward for trial

The man appeared at Waterford District Court.
The driver of a bus involved in a fatal collision, that resulted in the deaths of two teenagers on an e-scooter last year, has been sent forward for trial.
Adrian Doyle (42), of 5 Ard Glas, Abbey Road, Ferrybank, appeared before Judge Kevin Staunton in relation to the incident, which happened on the Cork Road, Waterford city, on June 27, 2024.
Sergeant Michael Hickey told the court that the Book of Evidence had been served and that the DPP had consented to trial on indictment on March 21, 2025. He made an application for the matter to go forward for trial in relation to count one in the Book of Evidence.
Judge Staunton put the matter forward for the next sittings of Waterford Circuit Court in June.
He issued an alibi warning to the defendant, which means that if Mr Doyle is to rely on alibi evidence in his defence, he must notify the state within 14 days.
The judge remanded the defendant on continuing bail on his bond of €500.
