The boil water notice has been issued until further notice

Residents in Tallow must boil their water before using it for drinking, food preparation and brushing teeth until further notice, Uisce Éireann said in a statement yesterday evening, October 14.

This is an essential measure introduced to protect public health, the statement said, after increased levels of turbidity (cloudiness) in the water affected the treatment process at the local water treatment plant.

The Boil Water Notice applies to approximately 1,100 consumers supplied by Tallow public water supply, including customers in Tallow and Tallow Hill.

The Boil Water Notice will remain in place while Uisce Éireann works with the HSE to ensure the water is safe to drink for local residents.

“We know how important a safe and reliable water supply is to everyday life, and we understand how difficult this latest disruption will be for households, businesses and the wider community,” Maura Phelan of Uisce Éireann said.

“Our teams are working to resolve the issue and lift the notice as quickly and safely as possible.

We sincerely thank everyone in the community for their patience and cooperation.” Uisce Éireann has advised that water from the public water supply is safe to consume once it has been boiled and allowed to cool down.
