Beloved Teddy Bear Hospital returns to Waterford

The beloved Teddy Bear Hospital is making its much-anticipated return to Waterford on Saturday, January 25, 2025.

Hosted by Juniors for Juniors, this unique event in the Déise city invites children and their families to experience a day of fun, learning, and connection, while easing anxieties around medical environments in a playful and supportive atmosphere.

The Teddy Bear Hospital provides children with the opportunity to bring their favourite teddy bears or stuffed animals or toy for a "check-up."

Guided by medical professionals who are all volunteers for the event, it offers interactive stations where children can learn about health, wellness, and basic medical care in a hands-on, engaging way.

From bandaging “boo-boos” to listening to heartbeats, young attendees can explore the world of healthcare through the lens of their furry friends.

“The Teddy Bear Hospital is more than just an event; it’s a chance to build trust and confidence among children when it comes to medical settings,” said Janet O’Neill, Co-Founder of Juniors for Juniors.

“By making the experience fun and interactive, we help children feel more comfortable and less anxious about visits or stays in hospital.”

Commenting on the event Isobel Flynn, Co-Founder of Juniors for Juniors, added: “The Teddy Bear Hospital has always been a favourite for children and families. It’s not just a fun day out - it’s an opportunity to demystify healthcare for young children and build trust and understanding in a positive, engaging way."

"We’re thrilled to have such a dedicated team of professional volunteers joining us this year and we want to thank them for giving up the time to help us," she said.

The Teddy Bear Hospital 2025 will take place on Saturday, January 25, 2025 from 10am to 3.30pm, at The Department of Nursing and Healthcare in the SETU O'Connell Bianconi Building on the Cork Road Campus, Waterford City, which will be clearly marked on the day.
