Ballyduff Drama Group receive Mayoral Reception in City Hall

Earlier this week a Mayoral Reception was hosted by Deputy Mayor of Waterford City and County, Cllr. John Pratt, for Ballyduff Drama Group.
The reception was in recognition of the outstanding achievements of Ballyduff drama group who have proudly secured the RTÉ All-Ireland Drama champions for the second year in a row, the third time in four years and the fourth time in the group’s remarkable history.
In 2025, the group didn’t simply win the title, they excelled across the board. Taking home awards for best director, best actress, best supporting actor and best stage setting.
Speaking at the reception, Deputy Mayor Pratt said, "This sweep shows that what Ballyduff brings to the stage is not only performance, but a mastery of full theatrical craft, from direction to design and from script to spotlight."

The Deputy Mayor further commended the group for their “dedication, theatrical talent and community spirit”, saying that they have brought national acclaim to county Waterford.
“This is a record that speaks volumes” he said: “Not only about the talent on the stage, but about the deep roots of dedication, craft and community that run through Ballyduff and west Waterford.
"These decades of experience are evident in every award, in every line delivered and in every performance that moves an audiences. Your success is not just your own, it lifts all of us.
"You shine a spotlight on what is best about the local arts, and you bring pride to your parish, your county and yourselves."
Also present at the reception were Cllrs Niamh O’Donovan and Donnchadh Mulcahy.
Cllr Mulcahy commended the entire group, saying that their work has "lifted the whole of west Waterford."
Cllr O’Donovan added: “When I go to a play in Ballyduff, I always feel like I’m going into your sitting room and it feels like I become part of the drama.
“You are all so enthralled in your drama and acting and you're all so good at storytelling. That comes from great leadership, hard work, dedication sacrifice."
