A group of teenagers reportedly started a small bush fire in Riverwalk.

The group, aged 11 to 14 years, were seen leaving the heavily wooded area 'in a hurry' on Saturday evening, August 8.

According to local resident Eoghan Hartery, the fire was 20 metres away from the nearest house.

He commented: "Confirmed 6 kids on bicycles plus 2 on electric bikes. No more than 14 years old and youngest about 11."

In the last few weeks Waterford has been plagued by dangerous gorse fires. In the Comeraghs, firefighters and emergency workers battled the flames, managing to contain the fire from spreading to nearby forestry.
