Alife Hale's 'True Blue' set to release this week

Waterford soccer legend Alfie Hale and Dermot Keyes, who have spent the past two years working on ‘True Blue’, Alfie’s life story.

Waterford football icon and former Ireland international Alfie Hale will launch his book ‘True Blue: The Alfie Hale Story’ alongside co-author Diarmuid Keyes in the Book Centre on Friday, November 21, at 6 pm.

‘True Blue’ chronicles Hale’s career from his schoolboy football years in Waterford to his moves abroad to Aston Villa, back to his return to Ireland and the start of his managerial career.

Over two decades, Hale netted over 200 goals across Ireland and England, earning 14 international caps.

In a cyclical nature, Hale returned to Waterford in 1966, having left six years prior, to guide Waterford to a league title as player/manager in 1969.

He went on to manage Cork Celtic, Limerick, St Patrick’s Athletic and Thurles Town.

While at the helm of Cobh Ramblers, he helped sign and birth the career of one of Ireland’s most prestigious sporting talents- Roy Keane.

‘True Blue’ will be sold in The Book Centre and is available to order through Choice Publishing for €20.
