Adam King to launch new Viking-themed book at The Book Centre

The book 'Farron's Adventure' will be launched at the Book Centre on November 9.
10 year-old Adam King has written a children's book about a cheeky Viking elf named and his adventures in the Déise.
Titled 'Farron's Adventure', the story follows our titular hero as he trapezes through Waterford during Winterval in a bid to save Christmas.
The launch of the book will take place at The Book Centre on Saturday, November 9 at 1pm, just ahead of the 12th annual Winterval festival.
Proceeds from the book will go the 'Junior for Juniors', a charity dedicated to improving the lives of children in the paediatric wards of University Hospital Waterford.
Adam is delighted with the book, saying: "I am so proud of this book. I can't believe that I'm an author like my Dad! I love reading, and books are a big part of my life. I will really enjoy reading this book to my little sister Sarah and my younger cousins."
Adam warmed the nations' hearts when he appeared on The Late Late Toy Show in 2020 and he shared his story of living with brittle bone condition (osteogenesis imperfecta type III) and the 'virtual hug' he created for his teacher.

Directors of Winterval, John Grubb and Trevor Darmody said: "Waterford celebrates its title as Europe’s City of Christmas this year, and for that reason, we have been working on a variety of different projects to share our city’s heritage and build upon the Winterval Festival even further.
"It really is a joy to be involved in the publishing of Adam’s wonderful, fun-filled, festive adventure story. This is a book which celebrates friendship, community spirit and camaraderie - and in many ways, it mirrors the ethos and values of our superb Winterval Festival here in Waterford, making this occasion an extra special one."
They ended: "We want to wholeheartedly thank Adam for his kindness, generosity and charitable spirit in committing a great deal of time during his school holidays to write this gorgeous story - thank you, Adam."
The book was illustrated by Dave Duffy and was designed and printed in Waterford.
Its priced at €9.95 and will be available from The Book Centres in Waterford, Wexford and Kilkenny at The Winterval Gingerbread House.
All are welcome to attend the launch.
