€4 million funding boost to support elderly and disabled residents in Waterford
€4 million in funding has been approved to improve homes for older and disabled people in Waterford.
The funding will be allocated towards Housing Adaptation Grants, which can be used in various ways, including extending or adapting a home to facilitate greater access for disabled residents, and essential repairs to improve the condition of an older person's home so they can continue to live there.
The announcement came yesterday from Minister John Cummins, who said that Housing Adaptation Grants "can have a transformative impact on older persons and those with a disability; enabling them to live more independently, and to help them live in their homes longer."
Minister Cummins added, "These grants also support local economies, creating employment opportunities for local contractors.
“Through this work, local authorities are empowering older and disabled people in their daily routines, enabling them to maintain their independence within their own homes."
