€1 million lotto ticket won in Tramore

It's a very exciting day for Hickson's Centra in Tramore as the National Lotto rolled up to announce that one lucky person won €1 million after buying a scratch card in the shop. 

Dónal Hickson, who owns the Centra alongside his wife Eilish, told the Waterford News & Star, "This year will be our 20th anniversary of Hickson's Centra and what a way to mark it. 

He said its been a very exciting day with customers coming in to find out who the lucky winner was but Dónal said no one in the shop "has any idea who the winner is."

He said that he found out last week that his was the second shop ever where such €1 million was won on a scratch card. Since then he had to keep the news to himself. 

He said, "I was with people over the weekend and I was bursting with excitement but I had to keep it to myself."

Dónal said he wishes the winner "all the best" saying that it was "a nice amount to win" and will hopefully "ease any money worries the person has."
