A man has been arrested after €3.2 million worth of cocaine and cannabis were seized in Dublin on Tuesday.

Gardaí attached to the Crumlin Drugs Unit stopped a vehicle in the Dolphin’s Barn area of Dublin 8.

The driver, a man in his 40s, and the vehicle were conveyed to a Garda station in the DMR South for a search under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

In the course of a search of the vehicle, Gardaí discovered approximately 44kg of suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of €3 million.

The man is currently detained under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.

A follow-up search was conducted at a residence in Tallaght, Dublin 24 and a further 10kg of suspected cannabis, with an estimated value of €200,000, seized by gardaí.

The seized drugs are subject to analysis by Forensic Science Ireland.
