Gardai are investigating an incident after a young man was beaten, stripped and left along the border in Co Donegal on Wednesday night.

The incident happened at Bonemaine, Bridgend just after 8pm.

The young man, who is in his 20s, was found by a passer-by after he had been attacked.

It is not known where exactly the man was attacked.

The man was found close to the Derry border.

The man was taken to Letterkenny University Hospital for treatment.

However, his injuries are not understood to be serious.

A Garda spokesperson said "Gardaí are investigating all of the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a man with injuries on the road at Bridgend, Co Donegal, on 1st October 2025.

"At approximately 8:20pm, Gardaí received a report of a male with injuries on the road at Bridgend.

"The man, aged in his 20s, was subsequently brought to Letterkenny University Hospital for the treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

"Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to come forward."

They say they are particularly interested in speaking to anyone who was in the area of Killea, Manorstown Cross and Bridgend between 7pm and 9pm and may have video camera footage (including dash-cam), who are asked to make it available to Gardaí.
