Smoke was seen coming from a building behind a restaurant on Oliver Plunkett Street at around 7pm today.

The attack took place at 9 pm on Thursday when the pensioners were at their home in Ballincrokig in Dublin Pike.

The flat has been preserved for a technical examination. This will establish the cause of the fire.

Emergency services were called to a house at Mary Aiken Head Place in Gurranabraher at around 10pm on Monday.

Gardaí said the impacted areas have been deemed safe
