A general election candidate has hit out at Irish Rail for their recent decision to write to pre-booked passengers suggesting they wait for later trains due to overcrowding on booked services

The Irish government has invested 25 million euro to facilitate the increased number of services on the route.

In August, Irish Rail warned customers that departure times were proposed to change on many Dart, Northern Commuter, and Maynooth Commuter services.

Iarnród Éireann announced it would be returning to its pre-August timetable after changes made to its schedule caused major disruption.

An investigation by the Railway Accident Investigation Unit found the piece of broken rail had only been installed less than a month earlier.
