The current system pays solicitors €239.38 per appearance per accused, and €59.86 for each subsequent court appearance.

This follows the Minister for Justice, Home Affairs and Migration Jim O’Callaghan (FF) recently seeking an additional €21.5 million in a supplementary estimate to fund criminal legal aid this year.
