Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to the collision, involving a lorry and a pedestrian, just after 10.15 am on Saturday morning at Old Cross Square in Monaghan town.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gardai are asking anyone who was in the area at the time to contact them.
