The RSA said they had been contacted by more than 160 unhappy learner drivers last year about the quality of driving lessons and instruction.

More than 83,000 applicants were waiting for a driving test in April – the highest number recorded since the pandemic.

Last month, The Irish Times reported 68,000 learner drivers were waiting to sit their driving test – with some facing waits of seven-and-a-half months.
