Detective says he believed his life was in danger during violent arrest

Two brothers have gone on trial at the Central Criminal Court charged with trying to murder another pair of brothers living at the unofficial site in Co Offaly last year.

The shots were reportedly fired through a window of a property at the site around 2am.

The garda probe is continuing into the cause of two fires which destroyed a house and caravan on the outskirts of Clonmel on the N24 Inner Relief shortly after 5am on Tuesday.
