Sgt Gaffey took her case against the Garda Commissioner and on Monday was granted permission to pursue her challenge through the High Court.

Counsel described it as an unusual case where the applicants have alleged bullying and harassment; however, the senior officer's case was that he was acting in the course of his duty.

Hugh Farrell has been granted leave to apply for a judicial review by the High Court.
