A light Dáil schedule for Thursday has prompted speculation that this is the day Mr Harris will go to Áras an Uachtaráin to ask President Michael D Higgins to dissolve the Dáil.

The Finance Bill will be passed before an election is called.

Coalition leaders met on Monday night and formally decided that the election would be held in 2024

The country will go to the polls before Christmas.
