Billy Gamble’s resignation came just hours after Prime Minister Andy Burnham said ‘confidence will be restored’ in the commission.

The First Minister was speaking as she visited residents of the Garvaghy Road in Portadown on Wednesday.

The Communities Minister said there was ‘a huge amount of anger’ in the unionist community over the Parades Commission’s decisions.

The PSNI mounted a security operation for the march on Sunday morning.

The Foyle MP and former SDLP leader appeared in court in Derry on Tuesday to face a charge related to the event last February.

The event comes after a deal on managing parades at the once volatile flashpoint broke down earlier this summer.
