Dublin City Council bought the 20-bedroom Avondale House on Gardiner Street late last year, saying it was the most cost-effective solution for emergency housing.

The TD said the Dublin Regional Homeless Executive has contracted 20 properties on Gardiner Street, all but one of which are privately operated.

The man is due before the Criminal Courts of Justice on Thursday.
