A report by the Air Accident Investigation Unit found the Jodel DR1050-M aircraft experienced a loss of engine power approximately two hours into a flight from Kerry Airport to Aughrim Airstrip, Co Down on February 7th 2025.

Bircan Dokuzlar (48) died when he attempted to land the aircraft in a field close to Waterford Airport last Thursday at around 12:50pm.

The victim appears to have been the sole occupant of the plane, according to An Garda Síochána.

These were the dramatic scenes today as 150 emergency service workers responded to a staged plane crash in one of the biggest major incident exercises ever held in Ireland.
