Her parents Tom and Violet held hands and raised them aloft as they crossed the finish line in the half marathon.

More than 200 of her family and friends will come together to run and walk this year’s Half Marathon and 10K events on May 31st.

Ellen Cassidy fell ill near the finish line at St Patrick’s Street during the Cork City Marathon in June

24-year-old Ellen Cassidy became ill at about 1pm on Sunday after she had finished the half marathon in Cork city centre.

Thousands of participants ran in the event on Sunday.
