Friends of the Elderly has launched a campaign which calls on the public to support older people through small acts of kindness.

Speaking on Newstalk, the chief executive of ALONE, Seán Moynihan, said the holiday period can be difficult for some people.

The symptoms of flu include a high temperature, aches and pains, cough, nasal congestion for which the advised treatment is paracetamol, fluids and rest.

Some Waterford residents have made adaptations to their homes to meet their needs but despite being approved by the Council, they are yet to be reimbursed for the work carried out
