Garda Forensic Collision Investigators are currently carrying out a technical examination of the scene and the road remains closed.

Gardaí said open grounds in Co Laois would be subjected to excavation, technical and forensic examinations.

An Garda Síochána said it has updated the family on any developments.

Gardaí have appealed for information following the collision on Monday

Eimear Carroll (42), of Hillside, Seffin, Birr, Offaly, pleaded guilty to one count of harassment and two counts of sending by post an article which is obscene, grossly offensive, or menacing.

The court heard the front door of the couple’s home was “riveted shut” and Ms O'Meara had no means of communication with the outside world before she escaped to the home of an acquaintance

Gardaí said the local Coroner has been notified, and a post-mortem examination will be arranged.

The man was conveyed to Midlands Regional Hospital, Tullamore, where he remains in a serious condition.

The three complainants, siblings Charlotte, Annette and Kenneth Moody, waived their anonymity to allow the Moody brothers to be named in the reporting of the case.
