In the course of a search of the vehicle, Gardaí discovered approximately 44kg of suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of €3 million

He is due to appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice at 4.30pm on Thursday. 

Crime Response Team officers searched a vehicle as part of a planned operation in Dublin 22 on Tuesday afternoon. 

The drugs seized will be forwarded to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.

Derek Harcourt, 48, of Thomond Road, Ballyfermot, appeared at Dublin District Court on Thursday evening.

The search resulted in the recovery of 38.6kg of cannabis herb, valued at around €772,000, subject to analysis, and two assault rifles. 135 rounds of ammunition were also recovered and seized. 

A total of 57kg of cannabis, as well as heroin and amphetamine, which are subject to analysis, were seized.

Robert Slivar, who travelled to Cork by ferry from Zeebrugge in Belgium, was charged with cannabis possession and possession of cannabis for sale or supply at the Port of Cork, Ringaskiddy, on July 27th last.

Gardaí executed a search warrant at a residence in the Englishtown area of the city shortly after 3pm on Tuesday, May 20th.

The searches were part of ongoing operations targeting the sale and supply of drugs in Cork city, a garda statement said.

Two men in their 60s were arrested, and are being detained at Garda stations in Clare and Limerick.
