Local Notes: Mass times, GAA and an Easter egg hamper winner

The death took place in University Hospital Waterford on April 13 of Mr Pierce (Percy) Kennedy, Halfway House, Faithlegg, formerly of Kilkenny and late of Telecom Éireann.
The late Percy with his late partner Maureen travelled a lot and his favourite places to visit were Museums, and he was a very accomplished guitar player.
His remains reposed in Thompson's Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 15, and his Funeral Mass was in Faithlegg Church on Wednesday, April 16 celebrated by Rev Fr P.J.Breen P.P. with soloist Sarah Jane Lavery.
After Mass, he was buried in Faithlegg Cemetery.
Predeceased by his parents Willie and Bridie and his partner Maureen.
He is survived by many cousins, especially his cousin Josie who looked after him in his later years, his extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Holy Ghost Residential Care Home, Cork Road, Waterford and Care Choice Nursing Home, Dungarvan for the exceptional care shown to Pierce.
The death took place on April 18, of Mrs Mary Anne Dempsey (nee Lynch) late of Ballyvoreen, Halfway House, Waterford, formerly of Six-Mile-Bridge, Co Clare.
The late Mary Anne went to the USA as a young woman eventually returning to England where she met her husband Frank and came back to Ireland and to Waterford where Frank got a job as foreman fitter in Raytex.
She adored the game of Bridge and enjoyed every minute of it.
Her remains reposed at her residence on Tuesday, April 22, and her removal took place to St Mary’s Church Ballygunner on Wednesday, April 23 for her Requiem Mass at noon.
The Ceremony was Performed by Rev Fr Bobby Power assisted by Rev Fr John Delaney. Her son Kevin recited a lovely poem covering the life of his mother.
Mary Anne is survived by her husband Frank, daughters Frances and Angela, sons Kevin and Edward, grandchildren Aoibheann, Emer and Eoin, sisters Josie and Kathleen, brothers Michael Peter and Tom, daughter-in-law Miriam, son-in-law Mick, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Sympathy is also extended also to Donal O'Brien and family, Crooke Road, Passage East on the death of Donal's brother Maurice (Noel) O'Brien, Piltown who died on April 15.

Thanks to the Staff, Children and Parents from Lios na nÓg, Crooke for their support and €163 was raised.
The next game coming up for the seniors is away to Abbeyside/Ballinacourty on Thursday, May 1 at 7:30 pm and another game v De La Salle in Passage on Friday, May 9 at 7.30 pm.
The Junior A in Division 8 meet Clonea in Clonea on at 7.15 pm on Friday, May 2.
The minors have a game coming up v Erin's Own/Sacred Heart in Passage on Thursday, May 1 at 7pm and another on Friday, May 8 v St Patrick's in Passage at 7 pm.
Under age fixtures coming up is the u 15 Division 1 final v Ballygunner is in WIT Arena on May 5, at a time to be arranged.
U12 league Div 1 Stradbally v Passage May 2 at 6.30pm.
U15 Feile Monday, May 28 and Tuesday, May 29 in De La Salle, Gracedieu grounds at 6.30pm both days.
Group is Passage, Mount Sion, Ballygunner and De La Salle.

James Sheehan U13 Passage hurler played at half time in Walsh Park at the Waterford v Clare game on Sunday last as part of the Primary games team.
Eleven hurlers were selected from over 20 schools to represent Waterford.
The Well Kids as usual every Wednesday from 6.30pm in the Gym.
