Local Notes: Charity fundraiser, mass times, Christmas Day swim, RNLI news and more

Masses in Killea Church for Christmas are as follows: Christmas Eve, Tuesday, December 24 - 8pm; Christmas Day, Wednesday, December 25 - 8.30am; Sunday, December 29 - 9.30am. Please note Christmas Day Mass is in Carbally Church at 11.30am.
Services in St Andrews Church of Ireland are: Christmas Day, Wednesday, December 25 - Service of Holy Communion at 11.30am.
The annual Christmas Day swim will take place at 12 noon at Counsellors Strand, near The Strand Restaurant. The annual Dunmore East Christmas Day swim is in memory of Ger McEnery, who was involved for many years in the swim. This year it's in aid of Esophageal Cancer and Gaultier Camogie Club. Sponsorship Cards are available from Centra, Costcutter, Harbour Stores, Dunmore East and also from Sharon Kelly in the Haven Hotel.
Coming up on Monday, December 30, at 8pm in Power's Bar, Dunmore East, is the annual RNLI Quiz Night. The cost of participating will be €40 for teams of four and there will be a raffle on the night. There is also a fantastic selection of RNLI Christmas cards, souvenirs, gifts and clothing available from our shop in the harbour. Your support helps to save lives at sea. The shop opening hours are Friday and Saturday, from 11am to 4pm, Sunday from 12.30pm to 4pm. Remembrance Tree Bows, priced €2, are available to purchase in the lifeboat shop. Christmas cards are also stocked in Harbour Stores, Dock Road.
A great evening of entertainment was had by all in The Haven Hotel, Dunmore East, on Sunday, December 15 and many thanks to Nicky Bowe for organising the fundraiser in aid of Dunmore East RNLI. Thanks also to musicians Sean Finucane, Ted Halligan, Eamonn Power, Joe Mulhall and Karl Whelan for giving their time. A special thanks to Paul, Karen and staff for the warm welcome and hospitality and our fantastic supporters for their ongoing generosity.
A reminder of the big event in the Carbally Community Centre on New Years Eve for the whole Community around the area. A big raffle on the night to look forward to with many, many prizes.
The Annual Swim in Ballymacaw on St Stephen's Day, this year will take place at 12 noon and will benefit a great local charity, Waterford Helping the Homeless. Whether swimming or just watching all are encouraged to donate towards this most deserving charities.
