St Paul’s Community Notes Quote of the Week

“May we remember the old ways of listening: to the stories of the land, to each other, and to our deepest spirits. Let gratitude be our compass, unity our path, and love our constant return.” Machan Magan (Mary Power, Butlerstown).

Celebrating the Season of Creation!

St. Paul’s Parish, Lisduggan, celebrated the end of this year's Season of Creation with a Special Mass on Sunday, October 5.

The Season of Creation is a time to reflect on God’s gift of nature and our calling to live in harmony with it.

This year’s theme, Peace with Creation, reminds us that true peace is not just among people but also with the earth and all living beings.

At the 11.30am mass our approach was inclusive of all aspects of our community, regardless of abilities, colour or nationality and this was demonstrated as different representatives from our Special Olympics, Pathways St. Paul’s, Ceim Eile, Resident’s Associations, The Parish Council, representing all who have brought the Faith to where it is today, including the numerous blessings we have received from our exceptional Priests, Fr. Pat Fitzgerald and Fr. Dawit Tekle and all those who went before them.

Also, members of the Indian and African Community that represents all the new cultures that now make up our parish.

We are enriched by all.

The artwork that illustrated of the beauty of nature was brilliant and included Ceim Eile, Br. Of Charity Services, MyYouth Group, Millennium Building, Presentation Secondary School and Pathfinders St. Paul’s.

The artwork combined with all the fruit, flowers, vegetables, shells and animals encouraged us to be thankful for the wonderful world we live in.

Fr. Pat and Fr Tekle reminded us to take to heart that each of us, strengthened by our faith can make the world around us a better place!

This event was an initiative of the Parish Faith Reps.

Run and Walk for Life

The Solas Cancer Support Centre’s Run and Walk for Life takes place on Saturday, October 11, in Dungarvan and Sunday, October 12 in Waterford City.

This year, Jamie Beamish is proud to join our blue campaign to encourage more males to take the step and reach out for support.

While 50% of cancer diagnoses nationally affect men, only 27% of our clients are male.

To highlight this 27% of this year’s event t-shirts will be dark blue, representing the men we currently support.

The remaining 73% will be orange.

These shirts will be randomly assigned to both male and female participants when we post out event packs.

We hope this powerful visual will help encourage more men to reach out when the time is right. Join the sea of orange with a dash of blue this year.

St. Paul’s Parish Pilgrimage

An inspiring and very enjoyable afternoon took place on Sunday, October 5, when Fr. Pat Fitzgerald and Fr Dawit Tekle joined with parishioners from St. Paul’s and Butlerstown to visit the Ahenny Crosses near Carrick on Suir.

Fr Pat led a short time of prayer and also gave us a brief synopsis of the history.

Then we continued on to Glencomeragh for tea/coffee and lunch and a walk around their beautiful gardens.

Our next stop was St. Patrick’s Well, where again we had a short liturgy and a brief history of this ancient site.

It was a most enjoyable day indeed – a generous gesture from our Parish. A real experience of community in action.
