Gardaí on alert after handgun produced during row in Donegal housing estate

Gardaí in Co Donegal are on high alert following an incident in Letterkenny yesterday in which a handgun is believed to have been produced.
It is understood the weapon was produced during an altercation between two groups of men on a housing estate in the town.
An argument ensued between the two groups when a number of men arrived at the Glenwood Park area of the town.
A report has been made to gardaí that a handgun was produced during this disagreement.
The description of a car involved in the incident was made to local Gardaí.
In a follow-up operation, the car was reported to be on the back of a tow-truck being driven out of Letterkenny just before 11pm last night.
Five Garda patrol cars, both marked and unmarked, rushed to the scene where it is understood the tow-truck was stopped.
There are no reports of any arrests at this stage following the incident.
A Garda spokesperson confirmed they are aware of the incident.
The spokesperson confirmed "Gardaí were alerted to an alleged incident at Glenwood Park, Letterkenny, Donegal on the evening of Saturday 2nd May, 2026 at approximately 5.30pm
"A number of men arrived at the location and it is believed a handgun was sighted.
"No persons injured or damage to property. Investigations ongoing."
