Forbidden Fruit: Who's playing, what's the weather giving, and how do I get there?
Eva Osborne
Forbidden Fruit will take over the Royal Hospital Kilmainham this bank holiday Saturday and Sunday.
This year's festival headliners are Kaytranada, Nia Archives, Kettama, and Joy Crookes, with Bricknasty, Sister Nancy, Trinity Orchestra, Folamour, Moio, Avenue68, Horsegiirl, and more playing across the two days.
Here is everything you need to know about the festival.
When are where is it?
Forbidden Fruit will take place on Saturday, May 30th, and Sunday, May 31st, at the Royal Hospital Kilmainham, home to the Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA), in Dublin 8.
The gates will open at 2pm both days, with last entry at 9pm.
The last act on each day will finish up at 10:45pm.
How do I get there?
The pedestrian entrances are located at East Gate, which is on Military Road, and West Gate, found on James Street.
There is no parking at the venue, and traffic restrictions will be in place on Military Road and Kilmainham Lane.
The nearest public car park is Park Rite Parking Lot at 7 Queen Street, Dublin 7.
You can reach IMMA by taking a bus (145 or C-Spine buses C1,2,3,4) to Heuston Station and then walking eight minutes to IMMA via the Military Road gate.
You can also take a bus (13, 73, G-Spine G1,2) to St James’s Hospital, which is also an eight-minute walk via Bow Lane onto Irwin Street and then Military Road.
Heuston station is a five-minute walk to the venue.
With the Luas, you can take the Red Line from The Point towards Saggart/Tallaght and exit at Heuston Station. It is a five-minute walk to the East Gate entrance via Military Road.
What is the weather giving?
Unfortunately, the glorious conditions experienced across the country this week will not continue into the weekend.
On Saturday, Met Éireann forecasts outbreaks of rain in the west spreading eastwards and turning heavy at times in the afternoon, with a chance of isolated thunderstorms.
There will be a clearance to sunny spells, with scattered showers following through the evening.
It will be warm though, with highest temperatures of 22 degrees.
Sunday will see a mix of cloud, sun, and scattered showers. It will be quite warm again, with temperatures reaching 20 degrees.

Where do I go after?
Kilmainham is a residential area, and festival organisers are asking attendees to respect the local community.
They say to not park illegally or in residential areas.
It is a five minute walk to Heuston station for the Luas or train, with the site also well serviced by Dublin Bus.
If you don't want the party to end though, you can go to an after-party event - Forbidden Fruit x Night.
These are taking place at multiple venues on both nights, including Wigwam, Tengu, The Grand Social, and Centre Point.
They are ticketed events, so make sure to grab one if you plan on going.
What's the deal with security?
No bags over A4 size are permitted in the venue.
Here are the prohibited items:
- Fireworks, Chinese lanterns, flares, and high-power torches;
- Liquids; alcohol; metal water bottles;
- Illicit drugs, legal highs; or nitrous oxide;
- No glass; make-up items, perfume/aftershave over 100ml;

- BBQs; laser pens; professional photographic equipment;
- Selfie sticks; drones; umbrellas; spray canisters/smoke bombs/gas canisters;

Attendees are asked to note that there will be no receipts issued for any confiscated/surrendered items and they will not be available to collect after the festival.
