The establishment of a voluntary community fundraising group intends to set a milestone in emergency care in West Waterford and save more lives.

To support the cause The Sportsman’s Bar and Restaurant Cappoquin were proud to host a fundraising event in aid of the West Waterford Rapid Response Vehicle.

The West Waterford Rapid Response Vehicle is a critical emergency vehicle designed to save lives and is led by Chairman, Michael Ryan and is supported by a host of local volunteers. In attendance at the fundraising event were sporting stars and local supporters, such as Dan Shanahan, Donnacha Mulcahy, Cathal Wilkinson and many more.

The West Waterford volunteer team was represented by Michael Ryan, Chairman, Phil Donnelly, head of communications, and Peter Burke, volunteer.

The local communities of Cappoquin, Lismore, Tallow and Melleray all attended to support this great cause to help save lives in West Waterford.

Michael Ryan, Chairman of the West Waterford Rapid Response Vehicle cause, stated: “It is our goal to raise sufficient funding to procure and operate a state-of-the-art emergency vehicle with advanced medical facilities. This rapid response vehicle for West Waterford will have the capacity to bring the A+E to the scene of a critical emergency with cutting-edge equipment to facilitate effective medical intervention, all carried out by a volunteer doctor and paramedics, skilled in emergency medicine. On behalf of countless lives, we are asking for your support in our fundraising endeavours.” Accordingly, the West Waterford Rapid Response Group are hosting a very special event on Friday, August 23, in Grattan Square, Dungarvan - Breakfast with the Stars. The special guests are two sporting legends: Ronan O’Gara and Ian Rush.
