Local Notes: School open evening, quiz night and singing returns to Passage East

Last Wednesday evening Mark Fitzgerald, Passage Hurling Club, an All Star Nominee for 2025, visited the young boys and girls at Passage Hurling Club.
Please note Rev Fr Breen P.P. is away this week and there will only be weekend masses in the Parish this week in both Churches. In Faithlegg it's the Vigil Mass at 6.30pm Saturday evening and in Crooke Church on Sunday at 11.30am.
A final reminder on next Saturday, October 11, from 10 am to 1.00 p.m. at City Hall Waterford a seminar will be held reflecting on the seasonal migration of over 30,000 people in the late 18th and early 19th centuries to work on the cod fisheries. The money earned helped the economic development of Waterford City and paid for many of its fine 19th century merchant houses. Present there will be St Teresa's Choir Newfoundland. Attendance is free of charge, but pre-registration is required on EventBrite.
The Passage East Community Singers Group will resume on Thursday, October 2, after the summer break and are looking forward to meeting up with existing members. New members are welcome to join us at the Community Centre in Passage East from 7.30pm to 9pm, every Thursday evening.

On Saturday week, October 18, there will be a Screen Printing Workshop in Passage East Community Centre with the first class at 10am to 1pm and the second at 2 to pm and then again on Monday, October 20, from 6pm to 9pm. It looks like Passage U20's will play in the (B) Championship this year. Going to underage hurling Passage U13 hurlers got their season off to a good start overcoming De La Salle comfortably last Monday week. They have two games coming up next weekend both away v Roanmore on Sunday 12th at 11am and v Ballygunner on Monday 13th at 7pm. The Well Kids last Wednesday evening had a very special guest with them in the person of All Star Nominee for 2025 Mark Fitzgerald from the Passage Club and they really loved the visit, as did Mark.
Athletes from Passage and Faithlegg National Schools competed in the Waterford City and surrounding areas on Primary Schools Cross Country on Tuesday, September 30, at the RSC Playing Fields and both fared very well with prizes for first 12 home in each event. Faithlegg tied with Ballyduff Lower in winning the Small School Overall Award and both Passage and Faithlegg Schools had athletes in the first 12 and others gave of their very best. Well done to all.
