There are lots of events taking place in Passage East

Mass times in Crooke and Faithlegg Churches are comprised of: Wednesday, January 8 - Faithlegg at 11.30am; Thursday, January 9 - Crooke at 10am; Saturday, January 11 - Faithlegg at 6.30pm (Vigil Mass); Sunday, January 12 - Crooke at 11.30am. As announced, exposition of the Blessed Sacrament on Wednesdays from 6.45pm to 7.25pm in Holy Cross Church, Killea, beginning on January 8, for Holy Year with Mass at 7.30pm as usual. A sincere thank you to Sr Antoinette (Alice Kennedy, Passage East) who played the organ on Christmas Eve and Christmas Morning in Crooke Church supporting the Crooke Church Choir on both occasions.

Sympathies

Sympathy to Michelle and Albert Gill, and family, Windermere, Créadan View, Crooke on the death of Michelle's father Michael Jacob, late of Mervue, Galway, who was in his 95th year and was staying with his daughter Michelle during the latter part of his illness. Michael was laid to rest after his Requiem Mass on New Year's Day in Bohermore Cemetery, Galway.

Christmas

Passage and Crooke were both very much into the real meaning of Christmas. The Christmas Tree and the crib figures and lights in the Grotto area at the entrance to the village from Waterford were very beautiful; as was the lovely star overhead, just below the Old Church which all shipping entering or leaving the Harbour and those living opposite us in the County Wexford could admire. In Crooke, again the Christmas Tree with its star at the top and the crib figures, again, were superb. Well done to all involved in both areas.

Senior Citizen's Party

Eighty-three people sat down for a wonderful Senior Citizen's Party meal in the Woodlands Hotel on Thursday, December 19, last for the annual Christmas party. Many spot prizes were distributed and the DJ provided music after the meal. A special presentation was made to Michael Connors who recently stepped down from the committee after 28 years of involvement in organising outings to Cork, Wexford, Kilkenny and trips on the Galley to New Ross etc. Four new committee members Carmel, Linda, Mary and Parisa joined Rachel, Anita and Rosie on the committee going forward. Thank you to everyone who came along and we look forward to seeing you all in the summer. Once again very well done to the committee.

The annual St Stephen’s Day match between Passage Hurling Club's married and single men took place again this year and the married men emerged victorious after quite a physical game.
